BUILT FOR ATHLETES
- Advertisment Design
Introduction:
Built for Athletes is all about premium gym bags that speak to serious fitness enthusiasts. They came to Life Like Media where I was tasked to make an ad set of 10 unique advertisements, 5 stunning static graphics and 5 dynamic motion graphic GIFs.
My goal was to capture the brand’s rugged, performance-focused ethos using a combination of Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Canva.
Inspiration & Research:
For me, research is the heartbeat of any project. I dove deep into Built for Athletes by:
Reviewing: I reviewed the clients call, dug deep into the brief, and immersed myself in their social media and website to understand the brand’s voice and audience.
Analyzed the market: I examined past campaigns, customer testimonials, and competitors' work to pinpoint what would truly resonate with fitness enthusiasts.
Whiteboard Brainstorm: I compiled all my findings and inspiration onto a whiteboard document, to create a single source hub of information I could refer back to at any point in the project.
Found a Spark: I was drawn to the client’s use of badges on their bags, its a part of their draw, attaching different competitions like hyrox to your bag, so I knew I wanted a badge style element to pay homage to this.
Design process:
Designing these ads meant balancing current trends with the brand’s distinct identity:
Photo Editing: I started by processing photos from the photoshoot with the model in Lightroom. I thought it would be cool to have a black and white, gritty textured style where the bag was the only thing unaffected to really make it stand out.
Message Crafting: Using tools like ChatGPT (and a few bag themed puns), I developed headlines that were both engaging and true to the brand’s tone. Custom icons and graphics were built in Illustrator to ensure every element was cohesive.
Assembly: Finally, I pieced everything together in Canva, balancing text, branding, and visuals to create ads that stop thumbs in their tracks. First the statics then moved onto the gifs.
Motion Graphics: For the GIFs, I maintained simplicity to capture attention quickly. I directed a photoshoot on a turntable to secure a 360° view of the bag, ensuring that the motion graphics highlighted the product’s design and functionality.
Final Design:
The final campaign turned out exactly as I had hoped—it’s clean, engaging, and they’re still running these ads months later. My designs even got featured in their new product range at a Dubai mall!
